Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
  • 4 pieces of flatbread (pita or naan)
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp fresh dill, chopped (or 1/2 tsp dried dill)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and egg.

  2. 2

Mix everything together until well combined. Form the mixture into elongated meatballs or ovals, about 1-2 inches long.

  3. 3

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the kofta and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until browned and cooked through.

  4. 4

While the kofta is cooking, prepare the tzatziki. In a bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. 5

Once the kofta is cooked, remove from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes.

  6. 6

Warm the flatbread in the same skillet for about 1 minute on each side.

  7. 7

Serve the kofta on the flatbread with a dollop of tzatziki on top. Enjoy!
