Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried Italian herbs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, onion powder, and dried Italian herbs.

  2. 2

Mix until all ingredients are well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

  3. 3

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until they are browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set them aside. In the same skillet, add marinara sauce and water. Stir to combine.

  5. 5

Add the meatballs back into the skillet. Simmer in the sauce for 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.

  6. 6

If desired, add red pepper flakes for extra heat during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

  7. 7

Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
