Ingredients

  • 1 cup sushi rice
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 can (5 oz) tuna, drained
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • Nori sheets, cut into strips
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

  2. 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water, then add salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.

  3. 3

Remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 10 minutes to steam.

  4. 4

In a small bowl, mix the drained tuna with mayonnaise and soy sauce until well combined.

  5. 5

Once the rice is cooked and slightly cooled, wet your hands to prevent sticking and take a small handful of rice.

  6. 6

Flatten the rice in your palm and place about 1 tbsp of the tuna mixture in the center.

  7. 7

Mold the rice around the filling to form a ball or triangle shape, ensuring the filling is fully encased.

  8. 8

Wrap the rice ball with a strip of nori and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
