Ingredients

  • 500g ground lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp dill (fresh or dried)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. 2

In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

  3. 3

Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.

  4. 4

Place the meatballs on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and drizzle with olive oil.

  5. 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until cooked through and slightly browned.

  6. 6

While the meatballs are baking, prepare the tzatziki sauce. In a separate bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, dill, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. 7

Stir the tzatziki mixture until well combined and refrigerate until ready to serve.

  8. 8

Serve the lamb kofta hot with the tzatziki sauce on the side.
