Ingredients

  • 4 slices of whole grain bread
  • 4 tablespoons of nut butter (peanut, almond, or any preferred type)
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • Honey or maple syrup (optional, for drizzling)
  • Cinnamon (optional, for sprinkling)
  • Butter or oil (optional, for grilling)

Instructions

  1. 1

Lay out the 4 slices of whole grain bread on a clean surface or cutting board.

  2. 2

Spread 2 tablespoons of nut butter evenly over 2 slices of the whole grain bread.

  3. 3

Peel the bananas and slice them into thin rounds (about 1/4 inch thick).

  4. 4

Layer the banana slices evenly over the nut butter on the first two slices of bread.

  5. 5

If desired, drizzle a little honey or maple syrup over the bananas and sprinkle with cinnamon for extra flavor.

  6. 6

Top with the remaining slices of bread to create two sandwiches, nut butter and banana side facing inward.

  7. 7

If desired, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add butter or spray with oil.

  8. 8

Grill the sandwiches in the skillet for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and heated through. Remove from skillet and let cool slightly before slicing in half and serving.
