Ingredients

  • 4 bone-in pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cored and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

Season the pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.

  3. 3

Add the pork chops to the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  4. 4

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and apples, and reduce heat to medium. Cook for about 5 minutes or until they start to soften.

  5. 5

Sprinkle brown sugar and ground cinnamon over the apples and onions. Stir well and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the apples are caramelized and tender.

  6. 6

If desired, add 1 tablespoon of butter for extra richness and stir until melted and combined.

  7. 7

Return the pork chops to the skillet to warm through for about 1-2 minutes with the apple and onion mixture.

  8. 8

Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot with the caramelized apples and onions on top.
