Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced thin
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon berbere spice blend
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Injera bread for serving

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

Add the sliced beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and sauté the onions and bell peppers for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.

  4. 4

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  5. 5

Return the cooked beef to the skillet, add the berbere spice blend, soy sauce, and salt to taste, and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.

  6. 6

Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro.

  7. 7

Serve with injera bread on the side.
