Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

In a bowl, mix the beef with cornstarch, soy sauce, and a pinch of salt; let it marinate for 15 minutes.

  2. 2

Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

  3. 3

Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry until browned, about 3-5 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

  4. 4

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil and stir-fry the minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  5. 5

Add the broccoli florets to the skillet, and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they turn bright green and are tender-crisp.

  6. 6

Return the beef to the skillet, add oyster sauce and beef broth, and toss everything together. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.

  7. 7

Drizzle with sesame oil if using, adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed, and serve hot over cooked rice.
